LITTER CONFIRMED! Due end of October 2026.
PAIRING / BREEDING GOAL
Our goal with Maverick × Soleh is to produce balanced, versatile German Shepherds that combine strong working heritage with stable temperaments, sound structure, and the ability to transition comfortably between work and family life.
Maverick brings established European working line influence, drive, confidence, athleticism, and working ability, while Soleh contributes a distinctly different white German Shepherd lineage. By bringing these backgrounds together, this pairing was intentionally designed to increase genetic diversity while preserving the characteristics we value in the German Shepherd Dog.
One concern I have increasingly encountered while researching and evaluating working line German Shepherds is very high genomic COIs, with some individual dogs I’ve personally reviewed reaching approximately 43%. That doesn’t make those dogs inherently unhealthy or unsuitable, but it reinforces why genetic diversity is something I want to consider when planning my own breedings.
Embark predicts Maverick × Soleh at approximately 24% genomic COI. COI is only one component of responsible breeding and cannot guarantee the health or quality of an individual puppy, but maintaining diversity and avoiding unnecessary concentration of the same genetics are important considerations in my breeding program.
Our goal is to produce puppies with stable nerves, confidence, intelligence, trainability, functional structure, and appropriate working drive with a reliable off-switch, while producing structure consistent with the German Shepherd breed standard.
All puppies from this pairing are expected to be a GSD standard variation of sable while carrying recessive white. Beyond this generation, that creates an additional opportunity for breeders who share our goals: these offspring can potentially be incorporated into thoughtfully planned programs seeking to produce white German Shepherds while introducing a heavier working line influence. Alternatively, they could also be incorporated into traditional working lines to create more diverse genetics for the standard sables. In many ways, these puppies have the potential to serve as a genetic bridge between working line and white German Shepherd populations.
Ultimately, this pairing is about creating options for the future - bringing complementary lines together, maintaining working characteristics, broadening genetic diversity, and producing dogs capable of contributing something valuable to future generations on either side of that bridge.
